Sustainability has been anchored within Hilti for decades. We have consistently prioritized topics that today fall under the broader sustainability understanding. In recent years, we have significantly enhanced our sustainability program, integrating it as a core element of our Group strategy. This commitment encompasses our contribution to the environment, people and society.

Beyond improving our own sustainability efforts, we are focused on helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals. We aim to be our customers’ best partner for sustainability, not only with the solutions we offer, but also with how we operate. Our sustainability strategy focuses on three key pillars – environment, people and society.

Sustainability at Hilti

Environment

We care for the environment and want to significantly reduce our impact on the environment by reducing our CO2 emissions. We have set a near-term target to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50 percent and our Scope 3 emissions by 30 percent by 2032, against the baseline established in 2022. Our long-term target is to achieve net-zero by 2050. In 2024, these targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

To reduce CO2 emissions across the company’s entire value chain we focus on three key areas: creating data transparency on CO2 emissions to enable data-driven decisions; implementing circular principles in product design, focusing on value engineering to use less material for the same applications; and converting to more sustainable options where possible, e.g., material sourcing, car fleet, and product technologies.

People

Our products are designed to secure the health and safety of the user on the jobsite and the building’s inhabitants. Equally important to us is the well-being and safety of our team members. We recognize that their health, satisfaction, and engagement are vital to our company’s success and sustainable growth.

Society

By upholding the highest standards in business ethics, we not only aim to meet existing legal requirements, but also want to make a visible commitment to responsible corporate governance.

Our corporate volunteering program encourages team members to actively participate in social and environmental projects contributing to the communities they live and work in. Through the engagement of the Hilti Foundation, we want to create sustainable impact and empower people for a better future.
