Making Large Projects Better

Large construction projects need higher productivity, safety, and sustainability. We partner with our customers to help them manage large projects better, for successful completion.

Powering the Future

Dutch transmission operator TenneT is developing 28 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity for the Netherlands and Germany. By 2030, this project will cover 30 percent of the EU’s offshore wind expansion targets, supplying clean energy to millions of homes and supporting the EU’s renewable energy goals.

Hilti’s Integrated Project Solutions

Hilti supports the grid connections for the TenneT project – offshore converter stations, 525 kilovolt high-voltage direct current cable systems, and onshore converter stations – with modular cable management systems, designed directly into the project’s 3D models and prefabricated for fast, efficient installation.

The Hilti solution integrates seamlessly into the customer’s workflow, saving time and increasing efficiency. It includes value engineering in the early design phase to reduce material usage and engineering time, innovative fastening technology to avoid welding, and prefabricated modular support systems for fast installation. In fact, Hilti’s solution can reduce installation time by up to 60 percent, lower carbon emissions by around 40 percent, and improve on-site safety by cutting hot work by over 80 percent.

Simplifying Complexity

Hilti’s integrated project solutions support better project outcomes by streamlining design, execution, and ongoing support. The use of value engineering and Building Information Modeling helps avoid delays and minimize rework caused by late-stage design changes. Coupled with off-site prefabrication, we shorten construction timelines and lower costs.

Tackling the Challenges of Large Projects

Large projects like TenneT’s involve complex collaborations between stakeholders across multiple regions. “A highly organized approach is essential to manage coordination between geographies, functions, and partners,” explains Himanshu Singh. For this project, Hilti has mobilized over 200 team members from Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, the United Kingdom, India, China, and South Korea, working alongside the TenneT consortia, demonstrating the power of early integration, on-site support, and seamless collaboration to deliver successful outcomes.

Looking Ahead

Large projects are becoming more intricate, involving diverse stakeholders, tight timelines, cost pressure, and strict environmental regulations. Success in this space demands exceptional project management. Hilti is continuously investing in project management competence to ensure our customers can rely on us to deliver – even in the most challenging conditions.

With innovative solutions, global expertise, and a commitment to excellence, we are making large construction projects better.
